How to handle emotional eating (אכילה
רגשית)
In the time past, only pandas were known to eat when they
are angry, frustrated or having a critical time. They are lovers of food and
this helps them to ease their stress but in turn makes them look big,
overweight, and heavy at all times with a protruding stomach. Nowadays, humans
have taken after pandas by using food to satisfy and get out of emotions.
People tend to eat not because they are hungry but they just want to use the
pleasure of eating to overcome their current situation. This kind of eating is
known as emotional eating (אכילה רגשית).
Life could be so frustrating when overwhelmed with stress,
anxiety, anger, and emotions that make you feel like sitting in front of your television
all day and seek comfort from your favorite food. This may sound not bad but
most people regret their actions and lapse in judgment after the occurrence.
When a negative event occurs, instead of
dealing with the emotions and figuring out a solution you may succumb to emotional
eating (אכילה רגשית) in other to get the opposite feelings of the emotion.
When eating to get pleasure rather than hunger occurs once
or twice in a period of months, this may not really be an issue of concern but
if it is done on a daily or regular basis, it calls for a full attention as it
can result to an unhealthy lifestyle. It's good to understand that you are an
emotional being and knowing how to manage these emotions when they are
triggered is very necessary.
Rather than getting addicted to emotional eating (אכילה רגשית)
of ice cream or crunchy, wines, sweet, biscuit and the likes that are high in
sugar and tasty to bite to get over your emotions, it is better to sit back,
relieve oneself from emotional eating and ask some basic question about that
situation. Feel the emotions from wherever they are streaming from and get over
them.
