Finding the main
causes of hair loss
Hair loss is generally considered
a problem for men. But hair loss is a condition that has many causes and can
affect virtually anybody. Billions of dollars are spent every year to treat
hair loss using various hair regrowth
solutions found in pharmacies and online over the internet. On average, it is
estimated that people lose about 100 hairs every day. This is usually part of
the typical hair growth cycle, although excess hair loss is generally a
distressing human development. It is important to understand that the hair
grows almost half an inch every month. Around 90% of human hair actively grows
at a particular point in time. The remaining 10% grows in a dormant level.
After 2-3 months, dormant hair tends to fall out and the follicles start to
grow new hair.
On another point there is a
difference between hair loss and shedding hair. When the human hair falls out
of follicles and does not grow back, that is considered to be hair loss. People
shed their hair during stressful events like breakups, childbirths and
divorces. When shedding happens, the affected person can begin to be
psychologically hurt by the situation. While the shedding may feel like hair
loss, it is not actually hair loss. The medical term used to describe hair loss
is known as Alopecia. Hair loss does not happen on the human scalp alone but
all over the body. There are specific medications and illnesses that cause
balding in men. However, genetics is considered as one of the major factors of
balding and it is the reason why some people struggle with using ahair loss treatment because some
products are used to regrow hair for men suffering from androgenetic alopecia
while other treatments are meant to prevent hair from falling.
Apart from genetic endowment,
hair loss in humans can also be caused by many other factors one of which
includes harsh hair treatments or hairstyles. Any hairstyle that consistently
uses barrettes, rollers or rubber bands or pulls the hair very tightly
especially with a style like cornrows inflame the hair and scars the hair
follicles (scarring alopecia). In such cases, the best hair loss cure would be to nourish hair using herbal and natural hair vitamins and to stop
using harsh hairstyles. Moreover, chemical products when incorrectly used on
the hair can cause hair loss. People who use straighteners, bleaches, dyes or
permanent wave solvents risk hair loss if they do not used these chemicals
correctly.
Hair loss can also be caused by
hormone imbalances. Hormone shifts, especially in women, from pregnancy, birth
control pills, hysterectomy, menopause or childbirth induces more hair
follicles that enter dormant phase. When this happens, this can cause hair
loss. When looking for hair loss treatment, therefore, it is important that the
treatment should address the main causes of hair loss. Unless the main cause of
hair loss is addressed, the treatment may not work or just offer a temporary
solution.
